Aston Martin DB5 Production began in July 1963, continuing to September 1965. Total production was 1063 cars. Under the bonnet lay an engine bored out by 4 mm to displace 4-litre. All standard engines now had the triple SU carburettors previously unique to Vantage versions, and the DB5 Vantage used triple Webers. Wider tyres on 1in smaller vehicles improved roadhloding, while all but the first 90 or so DB5s had a five-speed ZF 'box in place of the old David Brown four-speed unit. October 1965 brought more qeight, more equipment and DB6 designation. Text: September, 1985 issue of Classic&Sportscar
