Aston Martin Lagonda This car saved Aston Marin. It was officially called as Lagonda Series 2 as a follow on from the 1975-76 stretched DBS Lagonda. It took just seven months from sketch to show car. William Towns did a good job again. The first Lagonda was delivered to Lord and Lady Tavistock in April 1978, still a non-runner because the elctronics were playing up. The first true production cars were delivered to patient customers early in 1979. Fitted with a slightly detuned version of the four-cam alloy 5.3-litre V8, it put a smooth and flexible 280bhp and massive undisclosed torque) through Chrysler's 3-speed Torqueflite automatic. In line with Aston tradition the body was hand-formed in alloy and based on the existing V8 platform chassis, tweaked by Mike Loasby. Lagonda production ended in the spring of 1990, after a total of 645 had been sold. In the new section You'd meet with two new Lagondas: Aston Martin Lagonda Limited and Lagonda Vignale, both were introduced in 1993. Text extracts were taken from July 1993 issue of CLassic&Sportscar.
